Popcorn Removal

Your ceiling is one of the first things guests notice when they walk into a room. Popcorn ceilings are bumpy and not easy to clean consequently collecting a lot of dirt, dust and germs that may create allergies and respiratory symptoms. Popcorn ceilings are really out of style plus grow to be flaky, crumble and deteriorate with age. Popcorn ceilings are almost impossible to be painted and also very porous therefore making it very difficult to repair. Most homeowners choose to replace Popcorn ceilings with a knock-down texture. Popcorn Removal is a process to add beauty and a modern look to your home.  At Masterpiece Painting Contractors we specialize in this complex process to guarantee you the right preparation, the best labor and the best finished job.

Set-up

We protect all walls, flooring, furniture and fixtures have to be securely protected and covered from floor to ceiling with plastic sheeting or drop cloths to prevent any damage.

Prepare

We spray water to the Popcorn ceiling to be removed.

Removal

Once the preparation is appropriately completed the popcorn ceiling removal process begins. The popcorn texture is scraped clean from the drywall so the popcorn texture falls directly unto the plastic sheeting or drop cloths on the floor. As soon as the drywall is completely dry, we check for any visible holes, imperfections, cracks, or joints and repair, patch or compound them accordingly.

Finish

Afterwards we sand the repairs done to the drywall to create an evenly leveled surface to avoid any inconsistencies. Following the imperfection repairs to the drywall on the ceiling we will apply the ceiling style chosen by the homeowner; either the knock-down texture or smooth finish.

Priming

At Masterpiece Painting Contractors we know that priming a new textured surface before painting is necessary to guarantee a long lasting job. We always apply one even coat of acrylic primer to all knockdown textured or smooth surfaces to make sure the new paint is going to hold properly.

Painting

After the new texture ceilings are dry we apply Premiun Latex Sherwin Williams Paint to have a water resistant surface.

Clean

Furniture and accessories are moved back to their desired locations. Floors and carpets are vacuumed and swept. All of our materials are removed.

Inspect

After our own inspection, you are invited to inspect our work and asked to complete the feedback card for our popcorn removal job and the crew.
